Apologies for slackness...
It's been awhile, and we apologise for that. For those who know... the London summer doesn't last too long. So one has to pack as many events in as possible, before the sun itself packs it in. And this doesn't leave much time for blogging.
We've just recently entertained the 'Isacol' factor, and it was great to see them. They were a little haggard from the long haul flight, and the even longer farewell period they'd endured. But we managed to have a good time. Jo Shaw popped in for a flying visit, and we managed to find our way to the 'O'Bar for a few lavish drinks, after a feed at Waggamammas' (a Mickus recommendation) in Soho. The Woodmeister has been on the scene recently, as to has the Lozzenger and Nikki, so it's a been a sentimental ride. When you are so far away from home, it's nice to have a little familiarity. And I must admit to having a few pangs for Oz/Family/Friends, whilst in these fine peoples company. It leaves you wanting more.
But those feelings passed when we hit Clapham Common for the 'South West 4' festy. A remarkable line up of interstellar dj's, not all of them living up to their reps, but others going way beyond theirs. I'm not sure if we have any photos, but we'll check soon.
Sunday/Monday saw the onslaught that is Notting Hill Carnivale. For those who don't know, it's the biggest street party in Europe. Numbers this year reached beyond 2 million. The suburb itself offers it's streets up to the myriad of bumpers and grinders, semi's converted into the most beastial sound systems, floats, huge costumes, stalls selling goat curry/jerk chook/beans n' rice and the ubiquitous red stripe lager. It really is chaotic. If you don't mind a bit of pushing and shoving, mixed in with your soca/samba/reggae/dub/dn'b/bashment/ska/hiphop/steeldrum... then this is the place for you.
We've also been out to Wales recently. Which was lovely. Stayed with Vics brother in his beautiful cottage. Visited a town thats known to be the second hand book shop capital of the world. It was brilliant. Every third shop is a dark, musty, endless labryinth of overloaded bookshelves. Well worth a visit if your a bookworm. I found some comic gems in a backroom that hadn't been priced yet. You little beauty.
We've eaten snails from the backyard..... yes Bluey.... they really can taste nice if you cook them properly.
We've been to Portsmouth, to visit Boo and her little tiger Benjamin. Mark her hubby, is over in the big sandpit, and has left Boo to move house all by herself. Hmmm. It's a great house. I look forward to more shindigs down that way.
There is so much else that has transpired over the last 6 weeks, but I can't remember it all. More a sign of my age than of anything else. As it comes back to me I'll report.
I'm sure Mez has got some news for you too.
Photos of events will be posted shortly. Just wanted to catch up first.
If you've read all that, you're probably bored out of your skull. So go and have a cup of tea.
And remember...... we love youse all.
